In April 2001, Stella McCartney launched her own label in partnership with the Gucci Group. She presented her first collection in Paris in the Fall of 2001, and has been developing the label ever since, including the launch of her first perfume "Stella" in 2003.

Her sexy and feminine signature style attract a young and dynamic clientele. Stella McCartney opened important directly operated stores in New York, London and West Hollywood and will continue to add key locations in the coming years, while developing wholesale distribution through both franchises and doors in select departments and specialty stores.

Born 13th September 1971 in London.
Stella McCartney graduated from St Martin’s in 1995 and her final year collection had the rare
accolade of being bought by influential stores such as Browns, Joseph, Bergdorf Goodman
and Neiman Marcus. She launched her own line immediately on leaving college.

Her style of combining sharp tailoring with humour and sexy femininity was immediately
apparent in her first collection. In 1997, after only two collections, she became the creative
director of the house of Chloe in Paris. Chloe’s commercial success was stratospheric during
Stella McCartney’s tenure and her collections and advertising campaigns for the house of
Chloe were universally praised by both buyers and press.

Stella McCartney was awarded the VH1 / Vogue Fashion and Music 2000 Designer of the
Year award.
In April 2001 Stella McCartney resigned from Chloe and launched her own fashion house
under her name in partnership with Gucci Group.
In October 2001 Stella McCartney showed her first collection, Spring / Summer 2002, in
Paris. Following the collection, Stella McCartney announced the launch of a perfume in 2003.
January 2002 Stella McCartney and Gary Hume presented a collaboration of handmade tshirts
and dresses at the Thaddaeus Ropac gallery in Paris. A silent auction was held on the
night and the proceeds donated to RAWA.
September 2002, Stella McCartney opened her first boutique world-wide in Manhattan’s
Meatpacking district.
October 2002 Stella McCartney held an event in Los Angeles with Absolut Vodka to celebrate
the launch of the Absolut Stella print campaign.
March 2003, Stella McCartney received the Woman of Courage Award for work against cancer
at the prestigious Unforgettable Evening event in LA.
April 2003, Stella McCartney opened her London store in Mayfair.
June 2003, Stella McCartney announces the launch of her first perfume ‘ Stella ‘, available
in stores on September 13th.
September 2003, Stella McCartney opens her LA store in West Hollywood.
June 2004, Stella McCartney received the Glamour Award for best Designer of the Year in
London.
2004, Stella McCartney designed specially made costumes for Madonna’s “Reinvention Tour,”
Annie Lennox ‘s summer concert tour as well as the wardrobe for Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude
Law for the film “Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.
